Rascal Flatts Ended Because Joe Don Rooney Quit
Former Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox is now saying the catalyst for the trio’s demise was guitar player Joe Don Rooney quitting the band.
“I’ve never been OK with the way that it ended. I was never OK with . . . I wasn’t happy that Joe Don quit. It kind of came out of nowhere. It was like, ‘Let me try to wrap my head around this.'”
In 2020, Rascal Flatts announced they were going their separate ways and would say goodbye to fans on their Farewell Tour last year, which commemorated 20 years together as a trio, but the tour was cancelled due to the pandemic.
“I hate the way that it ended. I hate that we didn’t get to do this farewell tour. I can’t stand the fact that it just feels there’s no closure with something that we’ve been so blessed with. That will always be in my heart.”
He also said he has not spoken to Joe Don since the musician was arrested for DUI in September.
Gary has launched his solo career as a Christian artist and is planning his first solo tour in 2022.
