Five Number Ones & Four Time CMA Winner

Jack learned to play guitar when he was ten, and still in his teens, he was a radio DJ in his hometown of Maryville, Tennessee.  He became a regular on  the Tennessee Barn Dance Show, from Knoxville.

He formed his first band, “The Peach Tree Boys” when he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, then he put together, “The Tennessee Mountain Boys”, and became Ernest Tubb’s opening act.  It was Tubb who saw Jack’s talent, and encouraged him to go out on his own.

It was good advice, because Jack could shine in the spotlight.  He was a three time Grammy nominee, and earned four awards from The Country Music Association when his signature song, “There Goes My Everything” became a number one hit, holding the top spot for seven weeks in 1966.
