Fred Burton of Wingham, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Monday, June 19th at the age of 74.
Beloved husband of Nancy Burton of Wingham. Loving dad of Lesley & Wil Zehr of Kitchener and Bradley & Alexandra Burton of Sarnia. Cherished grandpa of Lucas, Taylor, and Braedon Zehr and Clark, Montgomery, and Vaughn Burton. Dear son-in-law of Jack & Mary Cann of London. Fred will be missed by his sisters-in-law Beverley Burton of Etobicoke, Mary Anne Smith & Jim Snow of Exeter, Cathy & John Teegarden of Tennessee, and brother-in-law Jon & Dawn Cann of Strathroy as well as his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents James & Elsie Burton, brother Jim Burton and sister Lynne Ford and her husband Gary.
Fred was the sports broadcaster for CKNX in Wingham for many years. He had a passion for sports and enjoyed his time volunteering with many local minor teams over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wingham Knights of Columbus Centre on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation or the Children’s Health Foundation would be appreciated.
