Ruth, Norbert (Age 76, Wetaskiwin Alberta)

Norbert (Herb) Joseph James Ruth formally of Hepworth, Ontario passed away on the morning of May 24th at age of 76 after a long illness.

Norbert is survived by his wife Patricia Ruth and his five children Vincent Ruth, Vanessa Ruth, Matthew Ruth, David Schult, Diarmid Hanna and his 5 grandchildren. Norbert is also survived by his siblings, Ed, Mike (Janet) , Jim (Joan), Jeanne, Mary-Jo (Murray), Helen (Vic), Peter (Charlotte), Frank (Linda) and as well as many nieces and nephews. He is decreased by his parents Edwin and Mary Ruth, brother George and sisters Doreen, Cathy, Ann and Teresa.

He married Patricia on May 23, 1975 and got his first job as a musician when he was 17 playing in a hotel. He then worked at Heintzman Piano’s in Hanover, Ontario. In 1978 his first album, King of the Keyboard, featuring his favorite ragtime music was released followed by two more albums in 1987 and 1992. In 1988, his family relocated to Alberta where he ran his Repair & Tuning company until his retirement.

Norbert was an avid reader and master cribbage player and from time to time still entertained family and friends with his love of playing piano.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.
