‘Clara’ Van Merkestein, passed away peacefully at Huron Hospice on February 7th, in her 88th year. Loving friend to the late Eddie Stanford. Sister to Gerrit van Veen, Piet and Margaret van Veen, Alie Lee and Garfield, and Martha and Cees de Boer. Loved and sadly missed by her 25 nieces and nephews and their spouses. Predeceased by her parents Marinus van Veen and Aagje Oudshoorn, sister Agnes and husband Henk Ten Pas, sister-in-law Helen van Veen, brother-in-law Case Rietkerk, and nephew Brian Riekerk. At Clara’s request cremation has taken place. A come and go celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 18th from 1:30-4 pm at Riverside Funeral Home Brussels Chapel. Memories will be shared at 2 pm.
