Joseph Detzler, of Durham, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Friday, July 23rd, in his 87th year with his wife, son Tracy, and daughter-in-law by his side.  Beloved husband of the former Sherrin Leatham. Loving father of Tracy Detzler and Debbie, Lezlee Detzler and Janet, and Dale Detzler. Cherished grandfather of April, Cole, Evan, Chloe, and Amelia. Step-father of Kerry and Ed Rouse, and Kelly and Brian Hall. Step-grandfather of Shelby, and Graham, and step-great-grandfather of Bailey. Dear brother of Alberta and Wes Rix, and Kathy and Sandy Limebeer, and brother-in-law of Cathy Detzler. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his brother Paul Detzler. Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Friday, July 30th from 4 – 6 p.m.  Due to Covid-19 protocols masks are required and social distancing must be respected on Funeral Home property. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 31st. A public committal service will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Durham on Saturday at 12:15 p.m., where everyone is welcome to attend and we encourage you to register by contacting the Funeral Home or by visiting the death notice on the Funeral Home website mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca and click “make a reservation” to confirm your attendance. Physical distancing protocols will be in place at the cemetery. Friends and extended family are welcome to view a recording of the service on Tuesday, August 3rd at 10 a.m. by visiting the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home website or Facebook page.
