Latour, Karen (Lucknow)

Published on 31/12/2020

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Karen Marie Latour, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by the love of Kimberley Marie (daughter), Kevin Lloyd (son), and dearest friend Brenda Vaughn.

Karen was born in Aberdeen, Scotland to John and Mary Doughty. She moved to Canada in 1953, and on September 18, 1970 she married Lloyd Bernard Latour. They raised a daughter, Kimberley, and son, Kevin.

Karen originally grew up on a farm in Coventry, England, along with her brother John, and continued that lifestyle with Lloyd as they raised their children, and numerous animals, in Puslinch, Ontario. She had a deep connection with animals–personally interacting with each of them on a daily basis and ensuring each and every one of them had a name.

When Karen wasn’t managing the barn, she could be found doing two of her most favorite activities: gardening and baking. While gardening allowed for cherished alone time to tend and meticulously look over her yard, her passion for baking extended into more of a social hobby. Some of her cherished memories are baking with family members, including her granddaughter Hudson, and baking for her family, community and church.

Karen and Lloyd moved to Lucknow, ON in 2005. Karen loved her time spent with the Lucknow Horticultural Society, Lucknow United Church UCW and teaching SMART fitness classes. And it was in Lucknow that she would help her granddaughter, Lauren Paige, learn how to play the organ.

Although private, Karen was best known for her ability to love deeply, endlessly and unconditionally. She taught us how to love, be kind, have faith and give selflessly. The chorus in heaven sang as they welcomed a beautiful angel yesterday.

She is survived by her husband Lloyd, and children and grandchildren: Kimberley (husband Peter, children Holten [10]) in Guelph, ON.

Cremation has taken place and private services have been entrusted to the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lucknow United Church UCW, Wingham Hospital Foundation or the LHSC Foundation are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.  Condolences and memorial online at www.mackenzieandmccreath.com
