Published on 30/12/2020

Aaltjen ‘Alice’ Kabbes (nee Kroeze), formerly of Neustadt, was given the ultimate gift of being called home to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on His special day, December 25, 2020. She enjoyed 93 glorious, faithful years full of love and family. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”. (Matthew 25: 21)

Born on March 17, 1927, in Almen, Holland, to Gerrit and Gerritje (nee Vreeman) Kroeze. Aaltjen married Gerrit, the love of her life, on December 28, 1951, in Almen. They immigrated to Canada in May, 1953. With Gerry by her side, they raised their family together. Alice often helped out with Gerry’s business. She enjoyed gardening (both indoors and outdoors), various forms of needlework (crocheting and knitting) and maintaining a lovely home.  Alice had a passion for music and enjoyed playing pipe organ and piano for church services, Carrick Camp meetings and other occasions since the age of 12. She also filled in for regular organists in several churches in the community. She will be remembered by her church family at Hope Community Church where she most recently attended.
