Finlay, Lisa (Age 52, Mildmay)

Published on 23/11/2020

Lisa Ann Finlay (nee Karl), formerly of Mildmay, fought a tough battle with cancer. She showed integrity and grace and returned home with her angel wings, surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, November 19, 2020. She was 52.

Born in Etobicoke, Ontario on September 23, 1968 to Gerry and Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Buckle) Karl. Lisa was a vivacious and vibrant woman that always had a smile on her face. Through her journey, the tears and “glitter”, she will always remain a hero. She was “Superwoman” to all her students and colleagues at Mary Immaculate Conception School in Chepstow. Always a great friend that many will hold dear in their hearts.

Survived by devoted husband Shayne Finlay of Sauble Beach. Proud mother, that would endlessly support and encourage not only her “school” kids, but especially proud of her own. Loved mother of Cassidy Finlay (John Walker) of Sauble Beach and Shaymus Finlay (Lindsay Fisher) of Walkerton. Although, no grandchildren, she was the best “Fur-Nana” to Nora and the pet fish “Steve”.  Dear daughter of Betty (Don) Moyer of Deemerton and daughter in law of Verenna (Terry) Finlay of Oliphant. She will be remembered by her brother Bill (Carrie) Karl of Nottawa and sister Heather (Logan) Anderson of Arthur. Lisa will hold a special place in the hearts of her “gained” siblings; Joann (Keith) Parker of Walkerton, Linda (Steve) Cox of Wingham, Denise (Marko) Barac of Oakville, Brian “Butch” (Elizabeth) Moyer of Alma and Shelley (Lincoln) D’Souza of Miami. Remembered by her brothers-in-law Ryan Finlay of Reading, England, and Blair (Connie) Finlay of Wellesley. She was the fun loving aunt to many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her father Gerald “Gerry” Karl.

We, the family wish to thank each and every person that has supported us through Lisa’s journey…from the phone calls, emails and special events held, words can not express our gratitude. In order to protect our community, families and friends, a private family visitation will be held to help keep everyone safe from COVID-19 and prevent further spread. A Funeral Mass will be live streamed through the Mighton Funeral Home Facebook page for all to gather safely from their home and join in the Mass on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 11:00 am.  Click the following link to join the live stream at the indicated time – (https://www.facebook.com/Mighton-Funeral-Home-Ltd-109625187108921)  Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mildmay.
