Cecil “John” Stright (Age 67, Calgary)Cecil “John” Stright, 67, at home with his loving family by his side, peacefully entered his Lords presence on Saturday, June 13th, 2020.  As the sun-kissed the morning sky Jesus took his hand and God kissed his face.

John was a loving husband and will be missed deeply by his beloved wife Virginia (Redmond), his best friend and love of his life with whom he shared 49 wonderful years together.  John was the cherished father of Cara (Jeff) Stoll; Colleen (Rick) Vandewalle and Sheila Stright.  He was a devoted grandfather to Mackenzie (Alannah), Shae Lynn and Liam Stoll; Reagan, Ryan and Darren Vandewalle; and Alexis and Nicholas Sprung. He was also the adored, great grandfather of Lena Cecchini and Miller Stoll. 

John was born in Calgary, Alberta to Garnet and Betty Stright and was the oldest of three boys.  He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by both his parents and his brothers Larry (Bonnie) and Rick (Debra) Stright.  His loss is also deeply felt by his brother and sister in-laws Diane (John) Houston, John (Gayle) Redmond, Mark (Pat) Redmond, Janice (Bob) Ujimoto, Jim (Jenny) Redmond, Karen Redmond, Ben Vandiepenbeek, Elizabeth (Brent) Wilson, Maureen (Randy) Redmond, Christine (Lorne) Munn.  John was pre-deceased by in-laws John and Theresa Redmond, Michael Redmond, Mary Anne Vandiepenbeek, and Cynthia Andrews. John will also be fondly remembered and missed by his many special nieces and nephews and his extended family.  

Faith and family meant everything to John, he will be remembered for his unshakable faith in Jesus Christ which he endeavoured to share with those around him.  Those who knew John knew he was a kind, humble man and a hard worker, he was always generous with his time and talents, offering help to anyone in need, always putting others ahead of himself.  The man who has taken care of so much and has been so much too so many is now taken care of and comforted by Gods loving embrace. He was an amazing man and a friend to many, he will be forever missed however he will live on through his family, friends, coworkers and neighbours.

John’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who visited, called or texted, sharing caring hearts, helping hands and prayers for John and his family throughout his journey.  We would also like to express our thanks to Dr. Donald Neal and Dr. Glen Bell and their caring staff, as well as our attentive nursing staff from South West LHIN for their exceptional care of John.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
