Delaney, Dorothy (Age 93, Dublin And St. Columban)
Published on 1/6/2020
Dorothy Delaney (née Jordan), formerly of Dublin and St. Columban, peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Mitchell Nursing Home, just a few days following her 93rd birthday. Dorothy was an amazing cook feeding us with delicious butter tarts, a hearty meal or the results of the countless new recipes she tested. More importantly, Dorothy fed her family, friends and community with ways of love, faith and kindness. She patterned her life with ways of daily prayer. Dorothy’s 20 plus years as a school secretary were a gift to all who entered the doors of St. Patrick’s School, Dublin. An active participant in her church and her community, Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of happy memories and countless ways of caring and sharing. Remember her with a smile, or a laugh or two while enjoying a rousing game of euchre.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren Christine and Murray McClure and their family Tim and Adrienne, Peggy, Maureen, Denise and Mike; John and Sherri Delaney and their family Sarah, Heather and William; Theresa and Don Cronin and their family Jaclyn, Kelly, Diane and Daryl, Erin and Jeff, along with 7 great-grandchildren. Memories of days gone by remain with Dorothy’s sister Catherine Dwyer and a large loving circle of nieces and nephews.
In faith, we trust that Dorothy’s spirit is now reunited in eternal life with her husband Jim (2009), her parents John and Loretta (née Curtin) Jordan and siblings and siblings-in-law John and Eileen Jordan, Jeannette and Jack Costello, Grattan Dwyer, Mary and Louis Bruxer, Helen and Joseph McLaughlin, Evelyn and Charles O’Neil, Theresa and Joseph Malone, Anne and Ben Blonde, Loretto and Joseph Shea, Frances and Ted Melady, and Joe and Mamie Delaney.
Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth, entrusted with arrangements. Private family interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Dublin. The service will be posted at https://www.facebook.com/haskettfh beginning Wednesday morning, for family and friends to view.
