Leonard Carl LOUGHRAN of Minto Township on Tuesday, in his 62nd year. Husband of Cathy Loughran. Father of Carlie and Steve Giilck, Caitlin and Trevor King, and Kelsey and Dan Richardson, and grandfather of Leni Giilck, Ruby Giilck, Lawson King, Ivy King, Briar Richardson, and Bodhi Richardson. Son of Jean Loughran and the late Leslie Loughran, and brother of Mabel and Ken Foster, Edna and Paul Zimmerman, Sally-May and Stuart Yeo, Lorne and Bonnie Loughran, and Bob Loughran, and brother-in-law of Eric Zimmerman. He was predeceased by sisters Carol Zimmerman and Joanne Loughran in infancy.
Leonard was a straightforward man who always spoke his mind. His strength was unlike anything else. Every day, even to his last, he was determined to fight his illness because he was fighting for time with his family. Leonard’s biggest pride and joy was his family. He lived for Sunday suppers at the farm where he would cook for everyone while his grandchildren played. There was no place on earth more fun than the farm with Papa and Nannie. His sweetheart of 40 years, 3 daddy’s girls, 3 sons by marriage, and 6 young and vivacious grandchildren were forever spoiled and loved endlessly by Leonard and they will forever hold a special place in their heart for him. A private family service will be held, with interment in Harriston Cemetery.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion 296, Harriston on Saturday, June 15 from 3 to 6 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
Memorial donations to Minto Mad Dogs (Town of Minto), Harriston School of Dance, or Mount Forest School of Dance would be appreciated.
