Alan BAKER of Route 3 Brussels, passed away unexpectedly while doing morning chores, on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the age of 60. Alan was a member of the Wingham Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 286 and a former volunteer firefighter for Grey Township for 11 years. Together with his wife Shirley, Alan enjoyed farming and they were school custodians for 31 years. He enjoyed tractors, crop tours, driving bus and tinkering in his shop. Beloved husband of Shirley (Clarke) Baker whom he married in 1982. Loving father of Thomas and Nicole Baker, Sara Baker and Brian Martene, Emily Baker and Cody Roetcisoender and Isaac Baker. Special grandpa of Kinsley. Brother of Elda Gawne. Missed by his mother-in-law Marg Clarke, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Linda Baker, Murray and Sharon Clarke, Brian Clarke and Jackie Birk, Tracey Courtney, and Paul and Tanya Clarke. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and Heidi Raynard. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Edith (Wood) Baker, his brother Albert, sister Thomasena, brother-in-law Ray Gawne, nieces Kimberley Baker and Kelly Gawne, and father-in-law Harvey Clarke.
A casual evening of celebration for Alan’s life will be held on Saturday, May 18 after 7:00 p.m. at 41329 Morris Road, Brussels. Bring your best stories, pictures and beverage of choice. The memorial service will be held at Brussels Four Winds Barn, 60 Orchard Line, Brussels on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at 1 PM with Pastor Sandra Cable officiating. A private family interment will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel. Arrangements entrusted to Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to North Huron Community Food Share, Grey Firemen’s Association – Ethel Station, or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
