Bridge, Lorne (Age 80, Listowel, Frmly Drayton)

Lorne Bridge of Listowel, and formerly of Drayton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, in 81st year. Predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Audrey (Schieck) Bridge. Father of Ron Bridge and Jennifer Gohn of Palmerston, Glenn and Tracy Bridge of Tavistock, and Darlene Bridge and Gerry Feeney of Stratford. Proud grandfather of Chelsea Feeney. Nephew of Helen McCombe of Fergus, and brother-in-law of Blanche Bridge, and Wanda Bridge, both of Listowel, Bernice Bridge of Palmerston, Bill Schieck Jr. of Palmerston, and Merla and John Kay of Harriston. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Ada Mae (McCombe) Bridge, brothers Eldon, Wesley, and Roy, and by his sisters Eileen Moffat, Lois Clyne, and Shirley Bridge.

Lorne was a dedicated employee of the Drayton Co-op for many years.  He was interested in the development of the village of Drayton and its activities, and served his community as a councilor for 7 years, and later as Reeve of Drayton from 1972 to 1983.  He was a volunteer fireman, and a long-serving and faithful member of Knox Church Drayton where he was an Elder and Sunday school teacher.  Some of his favourite pastimes were playing cards (especially euchre), listening to country music on his stereo, and reading the paper.

A private funeral service will be held at Calvary United Church, Listowel, on Monday. Interment in Bethesda Cemetery, Maryborough Township. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
