Gordon ERNEST, of RR#1 Hanover, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. He was 71. Born on November 18, 1947 in Hanover, Ontario to the late Rueben and Ethel (nee Thedorff) Ernest. Gordon was employed for many years as a labourer for Interforest as well as the Bobbin Factory in Walkerton. A man of faith, he and Cleta joined the Crawford United Church, where many friendships were made. Better known to his friends as Gord, he truly embodied the meaning of country. He enjoyed all his outings with the hunting buddies. He had a heart of gold and loved to listen to country music.
Survived by the love of his life Cleta (nee Chittick) of RR#1 Hanover. Proud father of Michael (Shannon) Ernest of Hanover and Leanne (Chris) Jones of Markdale. Nothing filled his heart more than his grandchildren. He adored them and enjoyed attending their various activities from school plays to sports and getting together for the holidays so he could spoil them. Missing him terribly are all his favorite grandchildren Ryan, Jacob, Kaylee, Aiden and Alyssa. Dear brother of Brenda Todtz of Walkerton, brothers in law David (Gloria) Chittick of Allan Park, Delores Gateman (Bob Boddy) of Chesley and Keith Chittick of Alliston. Predeceased by his parents, brother in law Jack Todtz, father and mother in law Lloyd and Evelyn “Dolly” Chittick and brothers in law Harold and Wayne Chittick.
Visitation was held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm where a Funeral Service was held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 am. Rev. Tessica Hackshaw officiated. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
