Dolly Parton’s Broadway Musical Set To Open On Her 81st Birthday
Dolly Parton is marking her 81st birthday with a Broadway debut.
Dolly: A True Original Musical will open at New York City’s St. James Theatre on January 19, 2027, with previews beginning December 7.
The production features iconic hits including “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “9 to 5,” alongside newly written originals.
Parton first announced the show in June 2024, and it previously ran at Nashville’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts.
Since then, Parton confirmed she has been “spending a lot of time writing and reworking” the musical.
Nine-time Tony nominee Bartlett Sher, who won Best Direction of a Musical in 2008, is directing. A cast has not yet been announced.
