Cody Johnson Knew “The Painter” Was Special
Cody Johnson has the #1 song at country radio this week with
“The Painter.” The Gold-certified song is also the biggest streaming single of his career with 200 million global streams to date.
Released as the first single from his album Leather, Cody didn’t write it, but says he knew he wanted to record it as soon as he heard it:
“I heard this song. I knew that it was something special. It reminds me a lot of “Til You Can’t,” it has a good message. It’s really fun to sing, and it’s what I feel is representative of country music.”
