Country legend Naomi Judd passed away on Saturday, April 30th at age 76 near Nashville, just one day before she was set to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Last we heard, the family wasn’t disclosing a cause of death, but her daughters Wynonna and Ashley broke the news in a statement that said she lost her battle with “mental illness.”

Naomi had talked openly about her mental health struggles in her 2016 book, “River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged with Hope”.

She and Wynonna were set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Sunday, which did still happen after the family said that’s what they wanted. The Hall put out a statement saying the show would go on with, quote, “heavy hearts and weighted minds.”

The ceremony wasn’t televised, and the red carpet was cancelled.

Her daughters, actress Ashley, and Judds partner Wynonna, understandably gave emotional speeches during the ceremony.
