Lady A, formerly Lady Antebellum, and Seattle blues singer Anita White, also known professionally as Lady A, have reached a settlement in their legal dispute over the name.

Billboard reports that in a motion filed on Monday, January 31st in Nashville federal court, both acts requested that a federal judge permanently dismiss their lawsuits against one another.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Lady Antebellum chose to officially change their name to Lady A in 2020 in the midst of racial protests over the death of George Floyd. At the time, the trio stated,

“We did not take into account the associations that weigh down this word referring to the period of history before the Civil War, which includes slavery.”

At the time, they were unaware of the other Lady A, whom they sued for the exclusive use of the name after White requested $10 million payment in exchange for the name.

She wound up countersuing for “lost sales, diminished brand identity, and diminution in the value of and goodwill associated with the mark.”
