Luke Combs On When He “Made It” In Country Music
Luke Combs has made Country music history time and again, charting hits, winning awards and selling out venues across the country, but by his standards, he “made it” several years.
“When I could pay my bills doing music and not have to do another job, that was making it for me. That was the goal, was not having to work 40 hours, not have to do the cubicle office grind thing. I mean I would say quote-unquote I made it in 2011 or 12. I mean, I was playing shows 3 or 4 nights a week and didn’t have to work and was just writing music and hanging out and to me that was the dream.”
Of course, Luke says those goals have been adjusted over the years, and now he’s looking to take home an Entertainer of the Year award, perhaps this year.
In the meantime, Luke is inching toward the top spot on the country charts with “Better Together.”
