John NEWANS unexpectedly on April 24th in his 78th year doing what he loved, working his land. Lovingly remembered by the love of his life, wife Eleanor and his family who adored him, Jeff and Chandra, Chad, and Pam and Warren. A loving grandpa to Josh and Ashley, Jesse, Wade and Candace, Colin and Johanna, Stephanie and Charlie, Cameron and Jerad, Samantha and Denny. Special great grandpa to Parkar and Jazlynn. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Eunice Newans and great-grandson Karsen Fischer.
John was a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was an avid sportsman. He played hockey, coached, and played baseball and loved to go hunting with his gang. You would often see him in the stands cheering the Belmore teams on. He looked forward to going to watch his grandchildren play hockey or barrel racing. He was their biggest fan. He had his PhD in farming, gardening and equipment repair.
At the time of his passing, he may have been the longest living resident of Belmore, 28515 days to be exact. John was an enthusiastic volunteer. He loved his community and participated with his father with the original building of the indoor arena.
John Newans rested at Greg Roberts Funeral Home. As per John’s wishes cremation has taken place. John’s Celebration of Life will be on May 11th, 2019 at the Gorrie United Church. Visitation at 10 AM and service at 11 AM with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gorrie United Church would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Greg Roberts Funeral Home, Mildmay.
