Google says J Lo is why we have image search

The executive chairman of Google — Eric Schmidt, has revealed that Jennifer Lopez played a role in the search engine creating an image search feature. According to E! News, Schmidt said in an essay published back in January that Google users searching for Jennifer Lopez’s 2000 Grammys Versace dress is how Google images was born.


Schmidt explained, “At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen. But we had no surefire way of getting users exactly what they wanted: J.Lo wearing that dress. Google Image Search was born.”
