Shannon’s Bio

I was raised in Mount Forest, and I was that kid who loved public speaking competitions and singing…Weird, right? I wanted to be the next Barbara Walters, so I went to school for media. I was fortunate to get hired at CKNX Radio while on summer break from university, as the Summer Events Coordinator (Summer Cruiser). I remember telling my parents, after one of my first days as the Cruiser, that doing radio was the most fun and something I felt I was really meant to do. After graduating from Ryerson Polytechnic University, I worked at Global Television in Toronto doing a variety of jobs off and on air, as well as at Skywords Traffic doing traffic for a handful of radio stations every weekday morning. After two and a half years, I decided to change things up and go to teachers college, and I started teaching high school in February of 2001. I have been teaching off and on for 12 years, with breaks to have two beautiful children, who are the loves of my life (along with my husband of course). I have also been back at CKNX Radio off and on since 2008, and am loving every minute of it. What could be better than listening to music and talking, and getting paid for it?!
