Crothers, David (Age 72, Owen Sound)

David George CROTHERS on Sunday, June 16, 2019, of Owen Sound at the age of 72,  in peace after a brief battle with cancer. Dear friend and companion of Gracie Woodley of Grand Bend. Predeceased by wife and cherished friend Connie Crothers. Loving father of Kim Crothers and Steve of Calgary, Blake of Winnipeg. Uncle to Bill Gaunt and Tracy, Brenda Thompson and Dan, and Jana Angel and Bruce. Grandfather to Alicia, Briana, Rowan and Imogen. Also survived by four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents David and Georgena of Wingham, his sister Joyce Gaunt, son David and niece Karin. 
Dave carried on the family tradition starting his firefighting career as a volunteer firefighter in Wingham, he was then hired to the Owen Sound City Fire Department in 1974. After retiring in 2001 he joined the Inter-Township Fire Department retiring in 2011 after rising to the ranks of Deputy Chief. He also held an electrical ticket and worked for Fluker Electric and Terry Godin on days off from the Fire Hall. Even in the late 70s and early 80s  Dave and his close friend Bob Deyell kept busy with a chimney sweep business.
The family is proud to invite those who knew Dave on Friday, June 21 at 6 PM to the Inter-Township Fire Department, 180 12th Street West, Owen Sound for a service then after to the Owen Sound Legion to share stories. Parking is available at the Owen Sound Legion, 1450 2nd Ave West. The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at the Grey-Bruce Regional Health Centre, Dr Fred Veenstra, and the exceptional staff at the Chapman House. In lieu of flowers, the family would like for those to donate to the Chapman House, Owen Sound.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Breckenridge-Ashcroft Funeral Home, 241 9th Street West, Owen Sound.
