Juno Awards 2017: Drake, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd lead nominees

Drake, Shawn Mendes and the Weeknd each have a leading five nominations for the Juno Awards, which will be handed out in April in Ottawa.
Gord Downie is nominated for songwriter of the year, best adult alternative album and best video.
Michael Buble is still slated to host the show, although he backed out of last week’s Brit Awards to devote attention to his three-year-old son Noah, who is battling cancer.

Pop singer Coleman Hell says returning to the Junos after being nominated as breakthrough artist last year is encouraging. He’s up for best pop album.

Singer Alessia Cara has four nominations, as does the late Leonard Cohen.
