Jessica Simpson says her biggest money mistake is Nick Lachey
Jessica Simpson says her biggest money mistake…was her marriage to Nick Lachey.
In an interview with CNBC’s “Closing Bell” this week the 35 year old admitted that although her retail empire is valued at more than a $1 billion, she has had regrets financially.
When host Kelly Evans asked about financial mistakes in her personal or professional life, Simpson replied, “The biggest money mistakes? I don’t know. For some reason, I thought of my first marriage.”
“That’s actually a common answer, believe it or not,” Evans said.
Simpson was married to Nick Lachey from 2002 until 2005 with their relationship documented in the hit MTV reality series “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.”
The couple didn’t sign a prenup and Simpson reportedly offered Lachey a settlement of $2 million. According to Forbes, Lachey is believed to have walked away with just less than half of their estate when their divorce was finalized in 2006, in an effort to avoid a drawn-out court battle.
Lachey has since remarried and has two children with Vanessa Minnillo while Simpson married former football player Eric Johnson last year, with whom she has two children.
