Madonna angers some Long Island residents
Madonna has purchased an 8-bedroom mansion on 24 acres in Bridgehampton, Long Island promising the land would be used for agriculture.
But now the property is a tree nursery, which angry locals say is more about creating privacy and receiving tax breaks than farming.
Some say many land owners are looking to expand their growing operations, but there isn’t a lot of land available and believe Madonna is simply trying to shield her property from the public and the paparazzi.
It’s “a front and a fraud,” said one East Hampton farmer.
“Madonna should be ashamed for stealing from [taxpayers],” he said, and government officials should be “embarrassed” by the taxpayer money in the deal.
