John Nash, mathematician who inspired Russell Crowe movie, A Beautiful Mind, has died

John Nash, considered to be one of the greatest mathematicians and who inspired the book and movie “A Beautiful Mind” starring Russell Crowe, has died.

The 86 year old Princeton University genius died along with his wife 82 year old Alicia Nash who was an MIT physics major, after the taxi they were travelling in lost control and crashed in New Jersey.

Nash was famous for his work in game theory along with his personal struggle with paranoid schizophrenia.

Princeton University President Christopher L. Eisgruber said, “We are stunned and saddened by news of the untimely passing of John Nash and his wife and great champion, Alicia. Both of them were very special members of the Princeton University community. John’s remarkable achievements inspired generations of mathematicians, economists and scientists who were influenced by his brilliant, groundbreaking work in game theory, and the story of his life with Alicia moved millions of readers and moviegoers who marveled at their courage in the face of daunting challenges.”

“A Beautiful Mind” director, Ron Howard tweeted, “RIP Brilliant #NobelPrize winning John Nash & and his remarkable wife Alicia. It was an honor telling part of their story #ABeautifulMind”
