Devin Dawson is Hitting His Career Goals
Devin Dawson is trying to keep his nose to the grindstone and maintain business as usual, but he admits that his recent chart success — Top 15 and climbing — with his debut single, “All On Me,” combined with critical raves and inclusion on prestigious “Ones To Watch” lists has him pinching himself just a bit.
“I think a lot of these things are goals that I’ve set for myself in the past year or as a kid wanting to play music for a living, and as much as I’m like excited and freaking out about it I’m also trying to stay calm and just realize like, okay, it feels right. It just feels right, and I want to keep moving onto the next goals and keep growing and keep bettering myself. I think the one thing that has changed is the fact that it’s just given me the confidence to realize that I can be myself and that I can lean into myself and my gut will usually bring me the right way, and like I know I’m doing something different and I’m doing something maybe unsolicited or whatever but like I feel like the things that I’m bringing are things that people need or people want but just haven’t been said in this way and just that feel right coming from my gut.”
Devin releases his debut album, Dark Horse, on January 19th. This spring, he hits the road with Brett Eldredge on The Long Way tour.
