Keith Urban on the Song “Female”
Keith Urban’s performance of his new single, “Female,” during last week’s CMA Awards happened just weeks after hearing the song for the first time. Keith said he was hooked on the timely song after the first listen, and he felt it was an important message to share on so many levels.
“Ross Copperman and Nicolle Galyon and Shane McAnally wrote this song on October 10 and I got sent the song on October 11 and it was just instant love. It was just one of those songs that hit me. It was more than the sum of its parts, I guess, for me. It was the feeling I had from everything that went into the song. The overall feeling that song gave me was very powerful, and as a father of two girls and as a husband, as a son, it moved me very strongly and I feel very fortunate that I got to be the one that heard it and that we were already in the studio working on new music so the timing was . . . I mean, it was really divine. I really believe that, and it happened right before my birthday as well, so it was extraordinary.”
“Female” is the debut single from Keith’s upcoming album, which he says will probably be released in early 2018.
