Chris Young on CMA Music Fest Memories

Chris Young kicked off the 2016 CMA Music Festival on Wednesday, June 8th at the Festival’s new, state-of-the-art venue – the Skyview Stage at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville. His busy week at the annual event includes a performance on the main stage at Nissan Stadium on Saturday, June 11th before thousands of fans who sold out the show much earlier this year.

Chris, who grew up just outside of Nashville, still can’t believe he gets to be a part of the CMA Music Festival as a performer. He vividly remembers when he attended the Festival — then called Fan Fair — as a kid anxious to meet and greet his favorite entertainers.

“It’s a little strange if you think back to the fact that I was walking around getting autographs from other people. So it’s a little bit different knowing that now I’ve got people bringing stuff up to me, but it’s a good feeling.”

Among that “stuff” is some questionable items, including one that Chris says immediately stands out in his mind.

“Weirdest thing I’ve ever signed . . . I actually had a lady get me to sign a pack of Depends for her husband’s 75th birthday. That probably is the weirdest at this point.”

Chris is making his way up the charts with his new single, “Sober Saturday Night” featuring Vince Gill.
