Blake Shelton Talks About Divorce
Blake Shelton opened up a bit about his divorce from Miranda Lambert while in Nashville on Wednesday, September 23rd. He told one show host about how quickly the divorce was finalized saying,
“In Oklahoma, it happens so fast. Like, Miranda and I didn’t have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, whatever we had. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or 10-day waiting period until it’s over. We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that. By the time anybody knew anything, it was over . . . It was done.”
Blake added that he and Miranda vowed to remain civil through it all.
“Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is. We’re buddies.”
On another show, he attributed his recent weight loss to the “divorce diet” stating that it wasn’t “the actualy break up part, it was just the whole stress of getting through all of that. It was weird, and so I didn’t eat as many fried pickles and stuff.”
Earlier this week, Blake celebrated his 5th anniversary as an Opry member. He was given a commemorative gift marking both the Opry’s 90th anniversary and his fifth year as an official Opry member, in addition to being gifted with a one-of-a-kind fifth of whiskey to mark the occasion. Opry Vice President and General Manager Pete Fisher told the audience,
“They told us Blake was really, really excited about his fifth. Then we decided he might be thinking about a different kind of fifth, so we wanted to cover our bases.”
Blake played a free concert in Nashville last night in front of his label, Warner Nashville. Thousands filled the streets to catch The Voice star perform his string of hits.
