A Thousand Horses On Backup Singers
They say that behind every man is a good woman, but behind the band A Thousand Horses there are three very talented women. Group members Michael Hobby, Bill Satcher and Zach Brown say the band is joined on stage each night by background singers and unofficial group members Kristen Rogers, Whitney Coleman and Brianne Angarole, who also can be heard backing the guys up on their debut album, Southernality.
“You know, that was always something we wanted to do as a band is to have that big type of powerful . . . (Bill) We were writing songs with those parts in mind. (Michael) Yeah, and those girls are great, man, and they are a part of our family, they are a part of our band. (Zach) I think they definitely add a whole nother element to the live show visually and sound-wise. It’s like people, they don’t expect it especially if you just see a picture of the four of us or you heard us on the radio, you come to the show and you’re like, ‘Oh wow, okay, cool! This is a whole experience I’m getting I wasn’t expecting,’ so I think it’s been really cool to have ‘em out. I don’t know if we’re the smartest or the dumbest band in the history to bring out all these people on our first album. (Michael) Yeah, we got nine people on stage. (Zach) Twelve people on the bus, but it’s fun though.”
The guys are currently on the Southern Style tour with Darius Rucker. A fall leg of the trek has been added, and A Thousand Horses will again be part of the lineup.
