Jim Jordan and Marian Driscoll were real-life husband and wife, and they can be credited with helping to create one of the first, “situation comedies”.  Together, they formed, “Fibber McGee and Molly”.  The show was a huge hit on NBC Radio from 1935 to 1959, long after radio had ceased to be the dominant form of entertainment.   Jim Jordan wanted to be a singer and Marian wanted to be a music teacher. They went to the same Catholic church, and met in choir practice.  They took their act on the road, but it wasn’t until the moved from singing to comedy that Fibber McGee and Molly was created, with their first radio show on April 16, 1935.   Have a listen to some classic radio!  FibberMcGeeandMolly
