Vern started singing in the Baptist church where his mom played piano.  He and two of his brothers sang on the radio, and music was firmly established in Vern’s plans.

In the 60’s he joined ‘The Golden State Boys’, then he teamed up with his brother Rex and they became ‘The Gosdin Brothers’.

Vern retired from the music scene in the 70’s, and operated a glass company in Georgia.

The call of music was too strong to ignore, and Vern was back on the charts, singing with Emmylou Harris and Janie Frickie.  He co-wrote, ‘Chiseled in Stone’, and the song became the CMA Song of the Year in 1989.

Join me next Saturday, May 4 at 9:20, for more with Vern Gosdin!
