Keeper of the Stars

Tracy was studying business at Texas State University, and sang with a local band called, “Rimfire”. One of his friends convinced him to record, “Your Cheatin’ Heart”, at a mall recording studio.  The owner of the studio entered Tracy into a talent contest, and that lead to a contract with MCA records.

Tracy has since released more than thirty hit singles, ten studio albums and two greatest hits albums.

One of his best known songs, “Keeper of the Stars”, was intended to be just an album cut, but the song’s popularity during live performance convinced MCA to release it as a single.  Not only has it become one of Tracy’s signature songs, but it also won “Song of the Year” at the 1995 CMA awards.
