Jim’s Dad was a champion fiddle player, and each of his siblings could play various instruments.  Jim learned the fiddle and the mandolin.

Jim grew up picking cotton, and he learned Blues directly from African Americans working in the cotton fields.

At 16, he hopped a freight train and drifted for several years, then known as Jim Rob.  He attended barber school, and throughout his life, earned money as a barber.

Bob started recording in the early 30’s, and went on to become widely known as the co-founder of Western Swing.
