His Mom sang Country Music, recorded on Capital Records, and appeared on Ozark Jubilee.  Young Garth’s home was full of music and there were regular talent nights where the whole family took part.  Garth learned to play guitar and banjo.  He played and sang with his older siblings.

His real interest was sports, and he played football, baseball and ran track and field.  In 1984, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in advertising.

Music was in his blood, and Garth had developed his songwriting talents too.  He moved to Nashville in 1987, and his first album was released in 1989.

Garth has since received countless awards, and has achieved record sales success not seen since Elvis and the Beatles.
