The Storyteller

As a teenager, Tom organized a band called, “The Kentucky Travelers”.   They performed prior to the showing of movies for a traveling theatre.  He also had several stints as a DJ at radio stations in West Virginia.  His first songwriting break came when Jimmy C. Newman recorded his song, “DJ For a Day”.

Tom has written songs for dozens of country artists, including twelve number ones and two dozen more in the top ten.

“Harper Valley PTA” was a cross-over hit, nearing top ten on the Hot 100 chart.

Always look forward to hearing a song played on the radio from the “storyteller” Tom T. Have seen this entertainer several times in concert and you can bet that you will enjoy the show. Just an ordinary man who was gifted with a “one-of-a-kind” voice and a fantastic storyteller. “Old Dogs and Children and Watermelon Wine” still remains a favourite of mine. Will look forward to hearing it soon on CKNX. Thanks Jeff for bring little tidbits of info each week to the dedicated listeners of classic country music.
