Clint taught himself to play harmonica at age 13, at 14 he had written his first song and at 15 had learned to play guitar.
He had three older brothers, and the four of them had a band. They sang and played together as teenagers, and Clint dropped out of high school to play music with his older siblings.
For six years, Clint supported himself as a construction worker, a bait cutter and a fishing guide.
In 1989, his LP, “Killin’ Time”, was released and the album placed four songs at number one.
