When Randy was recording his first demo tapes in the early 80’s, he was turned down by every major record label in Nashville. His sound was, “too country”. He worked as a cook and occasional singer at a nightclub called, “The Nashville Palace”, to make ends meet.
Warner Brothers recorded some of Randy’s work, including, “On the Other Hand”. Released in 1985, the song reached number 67 on the Country Charts. It was re-released the following year, and became the first number one hit for Randy Travis, fifteen more number one hits followed.
