Canadian “George Strait”

As a child, growing up in Sudbury, Ontario, Gil Grand had lots of musical inspiration. Twenty or so of his extended family members routinely gathered for jam sessions, playing all types of traditional Country and Folk music.

Gil’s sound has been compared with George Jones and George Strait, and Gil counts both as inspirations.

His biggest hit, “Famous First Words”, put Grand on the map and became a top ten hit. He has received three CCMA nominations including Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year and the Wrangler Rising Star.  Gil Grand sometimes plays with his younger brother, Jake Matthews.
