With 20 albums and 35 singles on the Country charts, Lee Greenwood has been part of the Country Music scene since his first band, The Apollos, was formed in 1962.
Greenwood has worked hard to stay in the business. During the 1970’s he moved to Las Vegas and worked as a blackjack dealer during the day, and sang at night.
Thanks to some help from Mel Tillis’ bassist and bandleader, Larry McFaden, Greenwood was signed by MCA Records in 1981.
He wrote, “God Bless the USA”, a song that has re-entered the charts twice!
Join me next Saturday, April 1, at 9:20 for more with Lee Greenwood.
