In 1980 the movie, “Urban Cowboy”, became a top top box office success, and it made Mickey Gilley a happy man.  Not only did the film feature his bar, “Gilley’s Club” with its mechanical bull, but one of the film’s featured songs was Mickey’s, “Stand By Me”.

Gilley grew up in the shadow of his cousin Jerry Lee Lewis, and Gilley followed into the world of music, and scored seventeen number one hits of his own.
