When “Alabama” sings about the 40 hour week, they know it first hand. Jeff Cook worked for Western Electric, Teddy Gentry was laying carpets and Randy Owen was in the military. These three cousins knew there was music in their history, and in their future, and they got together when they could to practice, perform and record. Starting out as “Wildcountry”, their success came quickly and the group was barely ready. Randy Owen said they were on “Dick Clark’s American Bandstand”, and they were scared to death. With record sales over 75 million and 30 number one hits, its hard to imagine their humble beginnings.
Join me next Saturday, September 26, at 9:20 for more with Alabama!
